L. Denise Coleman

Denise has over 30 years of student financial aid experience in both two and four-year public and four-year private institutions. Denise came to FAS in 2021. As a consultant, she supports financial aid offices across the country. She provides Interim Staffing, Consulting and Assessment services to improve business processes, strengthen compliance efforts, and enhance student satisfaction.
Her experience includes over 17 years at Trinity Christian College (IL), where she provided leadership over the Financial Aid Office as well as other departments, such as the President’s Ad Council, Admissions, Registrar and Student Accounts. While managing a large institutional aid budget, she administered financial aid for all types of students efficiently and with high compliance standards. Denise also implemented Consortium Agreement Plans with community colleges in the surrounding areas. Prior to working at Trinity Christian, Denise held Financial Aid, Registrar and Veterans Administration (VA) Certifying Official roles at several other private and public institutions.
Denise is experienced with several financial aid, and student information, systems including College Board’s PowerFAIDS, CAMS, Banner, and the U.S. Department of Education’s suite of applications and websites for administering Federal Student Aid.
Denise has been active in the Midwest Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA) and the Illinois Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (ILASFAA). In both organizations, she has served on an assortment of committees over the years. She has made presentations at these associations’ conferences and training meetings as well as other conferences over the years. She is also a member of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA).
Denise received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Management Information Systems from Governors State University.
