Dillard University, a private, historically Black university in New Orleans, Louisiana, has been a leader in education since its founding in 1930. Like many institutions, Dillard faced unprecedented financial aid challenges in Fall 2024, as FAFSA delays, and staffing reductions placed increased pressure on an already stretched financial aid team. 

Challenges

Despite a strong number of admitted students in the funnel for Fall 2024, several obstacles disrupted financial aid operations. It wasn’t long before Denise Spellman, Director of Financial Aid, found her team navigating a crisis.
