Sean Hudson
Consultant
Sean Hudson has over 20 years of student financial aid and student accounts experience at four-year private institutions. He came to FAS in 2022 as a consultant ready to support the key role of financial aid offices across the country. He provides Interim Staffing, Consulting, and Assessment services to improve business processes, strengthen compliance efforts, and enhance student satisfaction.
His previous experience includes two stints at Canisius College, first in student accounts and then in financial aid. Sean also worked in financial aid at D’Youville College and Trocaire College. He joined FAS after serving as Director of Financial Aid and Student Accounts at Trocaire College. Sean has expertise in helping small private colleges meet their goals for enrollment, financial aid, business office operations, and compliance.
“Solution Focused” and “Forward Thinking” are two terms that best describe his thought process when given a new challenge. He specializes in utilizing technology to improve efficiency in processing. His undergraduate research background helped to provide him with the analytical skills needed to do this. Sean’s master’s degree studies in counseling make him an effective communicator and motivator. Sean excels in Student Loans and helped the University of New Hampshire strengthen its loan processing in his first assignment with Financial Aid Services. His years of experience working in Student Accounts and in a One-Stop-Shop, make him an asset to both offices.
Experienced with several financial aid software systems, including Ellucian Banner, College Board PowerFAIDS, CAMS, and the U.S. Department of Education’s suite of applications and websites for administering Federal Student Aid, Sean also has extensive knowledge of New York’s Higher Education Services Corporation software, which oversees state grants and scholarships.
Sean served as Executive Council Representative for the New York State Financial Aid Administrators Association’s (NYSFAAA) Region One. Through his volunteer work with NYSFAAA, Sean has been a legislative advocate, meeting with state legislators to promote financial aid awareness and the importance of New York’s state-sponsored aid programs. Early in his career, Sean received the NYSFAAA’s Rising Star Award and other recognition for service to the association. Sean received his Bachelor of Science degree from Long Island University and Master of Science degree from Canisius College.
